Thank you for allowing your child to be a part of the CrossFit Kids Class! The commitment to our children’s future is a beautiful, arduous, amazingly nuanced path; the coaches are excited you have chosen CrossFit Kids to be a part of that path as CrossFit has changed all of our lives immeasurably for the better. With your child, we are not only able to potentially enhance their lives, but we also have the opportunity to shape their lives and their relatives within them, It is with this endeavor I have dedicated my life; your child’s safety and opportunity to potentiate their personal lives are my primary focus.I wanted to take this opportunity, now that the Kids Class is underway, to introduce myself formally.
My name is Teresa Coats. I started training as a child being a youth athlete, which fueled a lifelong love for sports and fitness. I found CrossFit in 2007, and I have explored many other training options and nothing compares to CrossFit. I was born and raised here in Oregon, and have two kids that are lucky enough to get to grow up here too. I have my B.S. In Sport Management and Exercise Science, my A.S. in Advanced Health and Fitness Science, and am currently finishing my M.S. in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention. I hold ACSM-CPT, CrossFit Level-1, CrossFit Kids, NASE- CSS-L2, NASM-CPT, NSCA- TSAC-F and USAW L-1. I have put in an immense amount of time and effort to have as much knowledge as possible to be the best coach I can be for you and your kids.
Additionally, we have Mark Daugherty as a CrossFit Kids coach. Mark is the owner of High Desert CrossFit and has had over 10 years of life dedicated to CrossFit. He holds several CrossFit speciality training certificates and is excited to help guid your children to a healthier lifestyle. Mark was born here in Oregon and has been in Bend since ’92. He has successfully completed several athletic endeavors and is an inspiration to so many.
We will be running two groups for classes: Kids (5-12) and Teens (12-18). Please note that it is not the age of your child that is the deciding factor for what class he or she attends. It is largely based upon individual skill, athleticism, and maturity and is ultimately decided upon by the head coach to ensure your child is getting the most out of the CrossFit experience. Kids class lasts 30-45 minutes and Teens class is broken into a one-hour classes that look much like an adult session.
